In 2021, the Town of Grimsby launched a major project to improve the community’s quality of life: the Casablanca Waterfront Park. The first phase of this project, which includes the development of several spaces dedicated to the citizens of Grimsby, was completed in June 2024. Permacon is proud to have contributed to this achievement by supplying over 10,000 ft2 (929 m2) of Boulevard pavers.

A Space Designed for the Community
The Casablanca Waterfront Park project reflects Grimsby’s values of community involvement, accessibility and environmental preservation. The design, conceived by Seferian Design Group landscape architects following public consultation, includes play and picnic areas, beaches, bike and walking trails, and a multi-purpose community centre. The waterfront park was designed to preserve the environment and enhance the existing landscape. The challenge was to create a space that was both functional and aesthetic— it was brilliantly met thanks to Permacon, who supplied the appropriate pavers, and Oakridge Landscape Contractors, who installed them.
A Paver as Durable as it is Stylish
Permacon joined the project once the plans had been drawn up by Seferian Design Group and approved by the Town of Grimsby. A significant part of the project involved the installation of commercial pavers, and the objective was to develop a creative paving design with high colour contrast. That’s why Permacon’s sales team suggested Boulevard 300 pavers measuring 4x4x17 ¾ in. (100x450x100 mm), in three different colours: Cinder Grey, Beige and Black ETX. The Permacon pavers were accepted by all stakeholders for their quality and elegance.
The size of the pavers made the herringbone pattern easy to achieve. The slender format and smooth texture of Boulevard pavers gave a modern look to the landscaped areas. The three colours selected created a visual contrast in harmony with the park’s existing tones.

Thanks to Permacon’s expertise and ongoing support throughout the project, the Town of Grimsby now benefits from a welcoming, easily accessible and environmentally friendly public space.
